1. Become an Advertising Sales Superstar Workshops

These 1 day workshops were held from October to December 2012 in Gauteng, Western Cape, Limpopo and Kwazulu/Natal provinces. The workshops were facilitated by John Lloyd who has vast experience in advertising. He also contributed to the development of the ‘Guide to the Business of Newspapers’ which participants received of at the workshops.

2. Wits Power Reporting: Investigative Journalism Conference 2012

AIP received bursaries for members to attend this innovative annual conference at the University of the Witwatersrand and in total 16 members attended together with 2 AIP staff members. This was a 3 day interactive conference with various presentations being given by acclaimed local and international journalists. There was also a community media roundtable held on the final day and a number of issues were raised to be taken forward as a collective.

3. Access to Information and Open Data Journalism Workshop

19 – 20 October 2012, Mpumalanga

The first 2 day workshop was held in Middleburg, Mpumalanga and in attendance were AIP members from the Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gauteng provinces as well as an ECCF member, Lisa Hiemer and Julia Plessing, GIZ. The workshop was facilitated by Gabriella Razzano from the Open Democracy Advice Centre and there was also a key address on investigative journalism by esteemed journalist Mzilikazi Wa Afrika.
